Now Hiring: Radiology Technician with Medical Assistant — Crosby Clinic
UrgentcareMDs is seeking a qualified Radiology Technician with Medical Assistant skills to join our team at our Crosby, TX clinic. This is a combined clinical role supporting both diagnostic imaging and direct patient care.
Job Summary Ensure high-quality healthcare for all patients and visitors. The radiology technician assists the provider in identifying illnesses and injuries through diagnostic imaging (X-ray), and interacts directly with patients to accurately maintain patient records while remaining HIPAA compliant.
Key Responsibilities — Radiology
- Prepare exam rooms and complete patient intake, history, and procedure education
- Review patient charts and provider notes; maintain records during and after procedures
- Position patients and equipment to capture clear, accurate images
- Calibrate equipment and adjust density/contrast for diagnostic quality
- Monitor patients during exams and follow radiation safety procedures
- Produce diagnostic images and report findings to the provider
- Organize and monitor radiographic supplies; perform scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs
- Ensure proper sterilization and storage of equipment
- Coordinate with radiology to schedule and complete procedures
Key Responsibilities — Medical Assistant (Clinical)
- Record patient height, weight, and vitals (BP, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, O₂ saturation)
- Conduct visual acuity testing, EKG, urine dipstick, rapid strep/flu/COVID, throat and wound cultures
- Perform phlebotomy and IV insertion
- Administer IM, SQ, IV, ID, oral, and rectal medications under provider supervision
- Administer and read TB skin tests; apply splints
- Clean exam rooms between patients and anticipate provider needs
- Restock and monitor medical supplies; document temperature logs
- Identify “high-risk” patients and answer patient questions after provider consultation
Key Responsibilities — Administrative
- Follow up on abnormal findings after consultation with the provider
- Schedule outpatient diagnostic services outside of clinic
- Sort incoming faxes and obtain preauthorizations as needed
- Process employer, discharge, transfer, short-term disability, FMLA, and admittance forms
- Maintain the sample drug closet and remove expired medications
- Monitor lab/diagnostic/hospital portals and patient care plans
- Perform next-day follow-up calls to patients
- Maintain knowledge of crash cart contents; perform monthly AED maintenance
- Update patient charts in EMR
Education High School Diploma. Medical Assistant degree or certificate. State certification to practice and perform radiology. College coursework in Medical Terminology.
Requirements
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, maintained up to date
- Bilingual preferred
Working Conditions Rotational shifts 8:45 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., including rotational weekend and holiday shifts.
